Farming is a business, and drought is just one of the many risk’s farmers face.

There’s no one right way to prepare for, manage through and recover from drought, but there are a range of people and organisations that can provide valuable advice and support.

Banks can assist with things like farm management deposit accounts and lending options, agronomists can help boost productions, and accounts can advise on ways to diversify income or limit losses.

State and federal governments can also help, with some offering farm business planning, research and climate tools and different kinds of tax deductions or rebates.

Farmers and farm businesses may also be eligible for income support, loans, financial counselling and mental health services.

Local farm industry groups are also available to share what other farmers are doing and are a great connection to local communities through local organisations.

Drought is a shared responsibility, and everyone has a role to play.
